In 1999, Scott Enterprises purchased 12 acres of prime bayfront real estate at the northeast corner of State Street and the Bayfront Parkway (the former Penelec site). Scott Enterprises has been working with Weber Murphy Fox Architects to produce a dynamic, mixed-use development plan, Harbor Place, that will change the face of Erie’s bayfront. Destination Erie has declared the Scott site as a key element for the revitalization of downtown Erie.
Harbor Place will be built in phases and will eventually include corporate offices, two hotels, retail shops, parking garages, an outdoor ice skating rink, condominiums, and apartments. Phase 1 of the project is set to include the construction of an eight-story Hampton Inn & Suites with a rooftop bar & event space.
Scott Enterprises has announced that Phase Harbor Side hotel will cost over $150 million dollars upon completion and will create hundreds of construction jobs, as well as employment opportunities at the complex.
“Simply put, this is a game-changer for our community. Our downtown needs an economic boost and this visionary project does just that,” said Nick Scott Sr., President of Scott Enterprises.
On May 11, 2018, Scott Enterprises officially broke ground on Phase One of the Harbor Place project, a Hampton Inn & Suites. Phase One is looking to be completed within 12-14 months. Phase Two will dawn a mixed-use office building with the first floor dedicated to retail.
